Torrevento is located at the foot of Castel del Monte, a mysterious castle that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The castle stands alone and imposing on the highest hill of Murgia at 540 m asl. This wine obtained recognition as the first DOCG Nero di Troia Castel del Monte in 2014. The recognition of the DOCG stamp is the culmination of 30 years of work and experimentation on the indigenous Nero di Troia vine.

Grape variety: Nero di Troia

Vinification: fermentation with long maceration. Ageing: in cement for 8 months and in wooden barrels for 12 months (large oak barrel), after that refinement in bottle.

Tasting notes: deep impenetrable ruby color with purplish highlights. Full and persistent bouquet of black berry fruit with slight hints of spice. Full-bodied and dense on the palate with a finish of great fullness and fruity notes, thanks to perfect aging in large oak barrels.

Food pairing: Perfect with dishes with rich flavors, red meat, venison, lamb, roast beef, cold cuts and seasoned cheeses. Also good as a meditation wine.

Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

Serving temperature: 16-18°C

Awards: 4 stars – Vinibuoni d’Italia, Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri, Decanter Bronze Medal, Wine Enthusiast 90/100, AWC Vienna Awards Silver Medal
