Château de Fieuzal 2022 is an elegant and expressive red wine from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, classified as a Grand Cru Classé de Graves. Owned by the Quinn family since 2001, this historic estate is renowned for its meticulous vineyard management and commitment to expressing the unique character of its gravelly terroir. Despite the exceptionally hot and dry conditions of 2022, the estate has produced a wine of remarkable freshness, balance and aromatic precision.

Grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully vinified with gentle extraction techniques adapted to each grape variety and the characteristics of the vintage. The estate uses wooden, concrete and stainless-steel vats to preserve the expression of individual vineyard parcels. The wine is subsequently aged for approximately 12 months in French oak barrels, with around 35% new oak, enhancing its complexity while maintaining the purity of the fruit.

Tasting notes: Brilliant, vibrant ruby-red colour. The elegant and precise bouquet opens with intense aromas of fresh redcurrant and blackberry, followed by delicate notes of liquorice and spices. On the palate, the wine is lively and refined, displaying impressive depth, fine tannins and excellent balance. Subtle hints of powdered cocoa complement a long, fresh and harmonious finish.

Food pairing: Excellent with grilled beef, roasted lamb, duck breast, game dishes and roasted meats. Also pairs beautifully with mushroom-based dishes and mature cheeses.

Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.

Serving temperature: 16–18°C

Classification: Pessac-Léognan AOC, Grand Cru Classé de Graves.

Awards: Robert Parker Wine Advocate 96/100, James Suckling 94/100, Vinous 93/100.
