Primitivo di Manduria Riserva – Premium Edition  is produced by the winery Masseria la Volpe in the heart of Apulia and represents the flagship wine of the Serie Uno line. This exceptional Primitivo embodies outstanding quality, intensity, and character. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and carefully pre-selected directly in the vineyard, ensuring that only the finest fruit is used for this edition. Harvest takes place deliberately in early October to achieve greater flavor concentration. At this stage, the grapes have naturally lost part of their moisture, resulting in a more concentrated and intensely flavored fruit. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, followed by at least another 12 months of bottle aging, allowing it to develop additional depth, structure, and complexity.

Grape Variety: 100% Primitivo

Vinification: The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand and undergo a strict selection process in the vineyard. The deliberately late harvest in early October ensures optimal flavor concentration, as the grapes naturally lose some moisture and become more intense and concentrated. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures for 12 months in oak barrels and then for at least another 12 months in the bottle, enhancing its structure, complexity, and harmony.

Tasting Notes: In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby red color with an almost black core. The nose reveals an intense bouquet of ripe fruits such as plums, dark cherries, and blackberries, accompanied by spicy hints of pepper. Oak aging contributes subtle sweet spice notes. On the palate, the wine is powerful and intense, with spicy nuances alongside flavors of licorice, tobacco, and vanilla. The wine stands out for its remarkable balance, where the rich and ripe fruit harmonizes perfectly with its acidity and tannin structure. The finish is impressively long and persistent.

Food Pairing: Ideal with beef dishes, mature cheeses, or as a contemplative wine to enjoy on its own—perfect for relaxing moments, for example in front of a fireplace.

Alcohol Content: 15% vol.

Serving Temperature: 16–18°C
