Calvarino lies in the heart of the Soave Classico zone and is the historic cornerstone of the family's vineyards, bought in 1901. The name means "Little Calvary" — a nod to how hard the land is to work and the steep, winding path down through it. The first vintage was released back in 1971, and the wine remains a benchmark for true Soave.

Grape variety: 70% Garganega, 30% Trebbiano di Soave

Vinification: The grapes are de-stemmed and crushed. The free-run juice ferments separately at low temperature (14–18°C) in glass-lined concrete tanks, where the wine then ages for a year on its fine lees for added richness and complexity. It rests a few more months in bottle before release.

Tasting notes: Pale straw-yellow with greenish reflections when young, turning golden with age. A fresh, floral nose of elderflower, lemon and cherry. The palate is dry, balanced and elegant, with remarkable length and finesse.

Food pairing: an excellent aperitif that also partners a wide range of dishes — vegetable quiches, delicately flavoured fish, shellfish and cheese soufflés.

Alcohol content: 12.5% vol.

Serving temperature: 12–14°C.

Awards: Wine Enthusiast 96/100 (Cellar Selection), Wine Hunter Gold, Tre Bicchieri Gambero Rosso, James Suckling 94/100, Kevin O'Keefe 96/100, Wine Spectator 90/100.
