Best Rosé at Vinitaly 2023! This wine is grown in the shadow of Etna, in a valley between the Nebrodi mountains and the volcano. The vineyard sits on the northern slopes at 620 metres above sea level, on volcanic soil rich in minerals and stony fragments. The 40–50-year-old vines are bush-trained, keeping to old traditions with full respect for quality and terroir. Planting density is 6,000 vines per hectare.
Grape variety: Nerello Mascalese
Vinification: Hand-harvested in small baskets, then crushed and destemmed. Short maceration on the skins and fermentation at low temperature for 10–12 days. Ageing: 8 months in steel on the lees, 4 months in bottle.
Tasting notes: A pale, salmon-pink wine. The nose offers ripe berries, peach and a touch of dried fruit. On the palate it is soft and fresh, with gentle acidity and good persistence.
Alcohol content: 13.5% vol.
Food pairing: fish dishes and fresh cheeses (primo sale and Nebrodi provola).
Serve at 12–14°C.
Awards: 5StarWines 92/100.
