Collection 246 with gift box is crafted from grapes sourced equally across Louis Roederer’s historic vineyards: one-third from “La Rivière”, one-third from “La Montagne”, and one-third from “La Côte”. These are complemented by carefully selected grapes from partner growers in the “Cœur de Terroir” plots. Collection 246 is both tender and vibrant, showcasing the finesse and salinity brought by its high proportion of Chardonnay. It offers a refreshing and elegant character, reminiscent of a Blanc de Blancs, yet with the depth of a carefully curated blend.
Grape variety: 54% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, 11% Meunier
The blend includes 35% perpetual reserve wines (from vintages 2012–2020) and 10% oak-aged reserve wines (from 2012 to 2017). The base vintage is 2021, which contributes 55% to the final cuvée.
Vinification: Partially aged in large French oak casks, with 24% of the total blend vinified under wood. 30% of the wines underwent malolactic fermentation. The dosage is 7 g/L, delivering a precise and vibrant Extra Brut profile.
Tasting Notes: Brilliant champagne colour with fine, persistent bubbles. The bouquet reveals aromas of yellow fruits such as mirabelle and nectarine, along with confit citrus notes like candied lemon. Toasty and vanilla-scented nuances from oak aging add complexity, while subtle reductive notes (smoky, iodine-like, shell) lend elegance and depth. On the palate, it is light and graceful, with flavours of peach and floral hints of pollen. The mousse is creamy, with a salivating, chalky-mineral texture and a lively freshness. The finish is long and harmonious, supported by delicate smoky and roasted accents attributed to the perpetual reserve.
Food pairing: Ideal with delicate seafood dishes such as oysters, scallops, or langoustines. Also pairs beautifully with sushi, poultry in creamy sauce, or aged cheeses like Comté and Parmigiano.
Alcohol content: 12.5% Vol.
