Crafted by Jacopo Biondi Santi at Castello di Montepò, this Morellino di Scansano is a pure and dynamic interpretation of Sangiovese Grosso “BBS11”, the exclusive clone preserved by the Biondi Santi family, with a small addition of Cabernet Sauvignon for structure. Grown on galestro soils in the heart of the Maremma and matured in barriques, it combines freshness, depth, and elegance in a truly authentic Tuscan style. On the palate it is vibrant, supple, and well-balanced, delivering juicy red fruits, silky tannins, and a long, savory finish. More than a traditional Morellino, it reflects both the heritage of the Biondi Santi lineage and the unique character of the Tuscan coast.

Grape variety: 95% Sangiovese Grosso BBS11, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon

Vinification: Harvest in early September. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by about 8 months of refinement in barriques to preserve freshness while adding subtle complexity.

Tasting notes: deep ruby red color. Aromas of fresh cherries, wild berries, violets, Mediterranean herbs, and a hint of spice. On the palate it is dry, medium-bodied, with ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a persistent, harmonious finish.

Food pairing: Perfect with Tuscan dishes such as grilled red meats, roasted lamb, Chianina steak, game, and medium-aged cheeses.

Alcohol content: 13.50% vol.

Serving temperature: 16-18°C

Awards: Wine Enthusiast 93/100
