From one of Soave’s most celebrated crus, La Rocca embodies Pieropan’s mastery and the soul of Garganega. Grown on calcareous soils beneath the medieval castle, this wine combines richness and elegance: golden hues, aromas of ripe stone fruit, almond and honey, with remarkable depth and ageing potential. The vineyard benefits from a special microclimate which in turn produces a wine with great personality, a distinctive perfume and unique characteristics. Innovative since it’s first release in 1978, it has made its mark in the area and is become a definitive symbol of quality and tradition. A benchmark Soave that rivals great whites of Burgundy – iconic, collectible, and unforgettable at the table.

Grape variety: Garganega 100%

Vinification: The grapes are destemmed and crushed. After a short skin maceration, the wine is fermented in tonneaux or big oak barrels. At the end of fermentation, the wine ages for around 15 months in tonneaux. During this period, the wine remains on the fine lees, where it acquires complexity and a rich bouquet. It is released after a few bottle ageing.

Tasting notes: Colour: Brilliant amedium lemon. Perfume: Characterful wine, reminiscent of exotic fruit and nuts on the nose. Palate: Smooth and persistent on the palate, with hints of spice, length and elegance.

Alcohol content: 13% vol.

Food pairing: risottos, salt cod and other fish including salmon, scallops and crab

Serving temperature: 12-14°C

Awards: James Suckling 98/100, The Wine Hunter Award Gold Medal, Kerin O'Keefe 95/100, Robert Parker 94+/100
