Grape variety: 100% Nerello Mascalese
Vinification: The grapes grow in the region around Randazzo, at the foot of Mount Etna, at an altitude of about 600 meters above sea level on volcanic soils. After careful harvesting, the grapes are immediately crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then the young wine is aged for about twelve months in large oak barrels of 60 hl.
Tasting notes: Garnet red color à la Burgundy. Intense and rich on the nose. Sweet, red berries, warm spices, plus a spicy wood aroma. Juicy and fleshy on the palate. A structural wine unlike any other. Firm tannins, juicy acidity and lots of spice on the palate. Long, elegantly resonating finish. A great character wine!
Food pairing: Perfect with rustic meat dishes and spicy hard cheeses.
Alcohol content: 13% vol.
